Hi,

We are looking at expanding our asset management activities to monitoring flows in rain events to determine localised branches where infiltration and inflow are concentrated.  I was wondering if anyone has any experiences that would lead them to comment on any particular types, brands or suppliers for this type of equipment?

We are currently looking at getting several pipe flow devices and remote rain gauges to correlate flows with rainfall events in segments of catchments.

Cheers

Shaun,

I have used such devices. You will need a particular type of flow meter that measures both the depth of flow in the pipe and velocity . This writes to a data logger which is also linked to an electronic rain gauge.

The device i used was called a FLO-TOTE made by Marsh McBirney who i think have been taken over perhaps by HACH.

Thanks Terry.  We eventually got onto a company called EDS who do the monitoring, but also supply the devices.  Taking delivery of the software today actually.  Logging to start tomorrow.

Cheers
