The Wide Bay Burnet Regional Organisation of Councils consists of North Burnett, Bundaberg, Gympie, South Burnett and Fraser Coast Regional Councils. The group commenced their QWRAP investigation in 2013 and also attracted IFMSS funding in 2014 to support the development of some case study collaboration projects. A focus of this stage of the investigation was an independent review of the potential benefits of alignment of SCADA, laboratory, skills development and sewer relining. The greatest projected benefit was projected for joint procurement of sewer relining and a regional MOA has since been developed. The group appointed a part-time QWRAP coordinator in 2016 and is developing furtehr collaborative activities while continuing to explore alternative regional arrangements.
Specialist sub-groups were formed to progress regional SCADA (Operations Control) standardisation and joint approaches to environmental management. The Operations Control subgroup has been meeting since 2015 and has had a strong emphasis on building capacity and skills development across the region through joint training sessions and information sharing. Another initiative was the development of an on-line library of regional standards, specifications, procedures and documents relating to SCADA in each council. Banana regional council is an observer on this committee.
