qldwater has received numerous enquiries regarding automatically reading meters. For those Councils with high rise premises or gated communities, reading sub meters can be a time consuming and costly process. qldwater is currently finalising a standard policy template on sub-metering which will assist Councils in creating their own policy for installation of sub-meters. This includes advice on smart metering. If you want to find out more about Smart Meters - Wide Bay Water Corporation is hosting a free seminar on their Smart Metering Project on Thursday 5 June 2008 at Hervey Bay.See under Projects and Training for detailed information brochure and registration details. |

The Annual Water Treatment Plant Tour of 7 small and remote councils was successfully undertaken last week. qldwater, together with representatives from Department of Local Government, Sport and Recreation and Natural Resources and Water, was able to update Councillors and Council Officers on recent developments that will impact them in the fast-changing water industry. As with previous years there was a Water and Sewerage Treatment expert on hand who inspected local plants and provided on issues that needed addressing. This tour gave participating councils the opportunity to gain free independent advice on infrastructure and to get a straight forward briefing on new requirements, legislation and policy direction. The Councils which were visited this year were: Flinders Shire Council, Richmond Shire Council, McKinlay Shire Council, Burke Shire Council, Carpentaria Shire Council, Torres Shire Council and Torres Strait Island Regional Council. |
