The Queensland 2009-2010 State Budget has committed $496.9 million for councils to support a range of essential community infrastructure to enhance water delivery and sewage treatment.

To further support local governments, the Queensland Government has developed a new Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program. Starting in July 2011, this new program will importantly target councils that have limited capacity to meet their priority infrastructure needs and capital works projects.

Funding for future projects will be assessed on the basis of council’s eligibility and the project meeting strategic infrastructure priorities and long-term community benefits.
