The success of the Queensland Taste Tests sparked a wider competition run by the Water Industry Operators Association (WIOA) where Queensland and NSW taste test winners battle it out in the annual Water of Origin event.
We are pleased to announce that the blues have lost the taste test four out of five times in a row, only breaking their losing streak this year when Port Macquarie Hastings managed to oust current Queensland champion, Livingstone Shire Council.
In 2017, the panel of judges awarded bragging rights to Toowoomba Regional Council's Mt Kynoch water sample over Icon Water (ACT). Toowoomba then went on to take out the Best Tap Water in Australia competition, after which they had a go at the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting Competition in February 2018.
We congratulate Toowoomba Regional Council (John Mills pictured above) and their hard working operators.
Other Water of Origin winners included:
2016 Barcaldine Regional Council
2015 Richmond Shire Council
2014 Cook Shire Council
